I completed my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at the University of Northern Iowa.
During my four years in college, I worked as a cooperating teacher with children who were two to twelve years old. I completed my student teaching at an arts and technology school in a pre-kindergarten and first grade classroom and also taught an after school math program for fifth and sixth grade students. After graduating, I worked as a lead teacher in a pre-kindergarten classroom.
Reason for becoming a Teacher:
I have wanted to become a teacher since I was a young child myself. My parents always joked with me that at the age of six, I had more control and engagement with the neighbor kids than their own parents. Through my volunteer hours in high school and field experiences in college, I was reminded of how much I enjoy seeing children love learning and developing the skills to be great members of society!
Interesting Facts and Hobbies:
In my free time, I love being outside with my friends and family! I have recently found my passion for running and spend a lot of my free time finding fun trails or running around the Minneapolis lakes. I also love attending any and all sporting events, especially Twins and St. Paul Saints games.
