Todd Schoenike
MS Social Studies Teacher
Education:
I received my Bachelor of Arts in History and Criminal Justice from Augsburg University. I also received my Teaching and Social Studies licensure from Augsburg. I attended an online college as well at American Military University. I received an Associate Degree in Military History and General Studies from there. Currently I am working on a Graduate Certificate in Civil War Studies.
Experience:
I got into teaching late in life as a second career. I retired from the Mn National Guard in 2008 after 22 years. I received my Social Studies License in 2010. I taught at a small Catholic school for four years, and subbed in the Shakopee District for six years prior.
Reason:
Originally I got into teaching because I felt we were losing touch on why we teach history to the next generations. Once I started subbing I began to gain a greater passion for mentoring, and just working with scholars. In particular, middle and high school. Kids are the future and I want to be a vital part of ensuring that is successful.
Hobbies:
I love baseball, soccer, fishing and traveling (when I can). I have lots of places on my bucket list to visit.
